Celebrate National Day on Writing

October 20, 2020 - 12:00am to 11:45pm

According to the official website, "The National Day on Writing® celebrates writing—and the many places, reasons, and ways we write each day—as an essential component of literacy. Since 2009, #WhyIWrite has encouraged thousands of people to lift their voices to the things that matter most to them."  Here in the Merritt Writing Program, we believe that writing is essential to life: it helps us connect with the campus and our community, it aids us in our personal growth and academic development, and it empowers us to share our voices with the world.

Help us meet our goal of having 100 UC Merced Faculty, Students, Staff, and Alumni share their #WhyIWrite stories.  On October 20, the National Day of Writing, tell your friends why writing matters to you and tag us @ucmmwp on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.  Be sure to include the hashtags #ucmercedwrites #whyiwrite!
