The 24 Hour Plays @ UC Merced by arrangement with the 24 Hour Play Company.

Part spectacle, part theater, and part sporting event, in the 24 Hour Plays, 6 ten-minute plays are written, rehearsed, and performed within a 24 Hour period. No scripts on stage! All lines are memorized--in one day! We are looking for actors, directors, and writers to participate. Students, faculty, and community members are all welcome. Plays can be written by one person or by a team.

Dates, times, and expectations:

Saturday, March 7th, 10-11 PM in SSM 116.  All-participant meeting and introductions. All participants need to bring 1) an object that can be used as a prop for any of the plays, 2) a costume item that can be used for any of the plays.

After introductions, the 6 writers (or writing teams) and Writer-Managers will write an original 10-minute play based on the actors they will be randomly assigned. No pre-writing! All scripts must be written on site, at UC Merced, be reviewed by the writer-managers and then completed by 6 AM. Writers go home to rest, but must attend the performance on Sunday night!

At 7 AM March 8th, the 6 directors will arrive and receive their script assignments.

At 8 AM, the actors arrive and gather with their directors and get their scripts.

Actors and directors are expected to stay on site all day (but will be given meal breaks) until the performance at 7:30 PM.

Free performance at 7:30 PM, March 8th, SSM 116
