National Day of Writing: Campus Event

October 21, 2019 - 10:00am to 2:00pm

The National Day of Writing, an initiative put forward by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), is built on the premise that writing is critical to literacy but needs greater attention and celebration.  For the last 11 years, thousands have shared their #WhyIWrite stories in person and online.

This year, UC Merced writers are teaming up for a campus event full of black-out poetry, two-sentence horror stories, a photo booth, and more.  Visit us on Scholar's Lane Monday, October 21, from 10am-2pm to celebrate writing in all its various forms.

This event is co-sponsored and co-hosted by:

  • The Merritt Writing Program
  • The UC Merced Writing Center
  • The Creative Writing Minor
  • The UC Merced Writer's Guild
  • The Vernal Pool
  • The Undergraduate Research Journal.

Prizes for best 2-sentence horror story will be awarded!
