A teaching portfolio provides faculty with a framework to collect and reflect on various aspects of his/her teaching experience (e.g. professional development, curriculum, assessment). As part of the academic review process for continuing appointment, the Merritt Writing Program has implemented the use of electronic portfolios (e-portfolios) for documenting teaching effectiveness.
Adobe Acrobat Professional (version 9 and above) is the application for creating teaching e-portfolio. As of Fall 2011, using CROPS to create your teaching e-portfolio is no longer an option. All MWP-assigned laptops should have this application installed. If you're using your own laptop and you don't have the application already loaded, you can contact IT Help Desk (COB 132A or 209-228-4357) to have it installed.
Please note the technical guide provided below is NOT intended to serve as the ultimate reference for what to and what not to include in a teaching portfolio. For that, please refer to the MWP site on CROPS (look under Resources > Academic Review folder).

If you have any questions about using Adobe Acrobat Professional, please contact Anne Zanzucchi (azanzucchi@ucmerced.edu). Questions pertaining to the content of the teaching portfolio itself should be directed at the Director, Assistant Directors, and the members of the Academic Review Committee.
